Xiaomi launches Xiaomi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro Android tablets

Xiaomi has introduced the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro, its first tablets in three years. The Mi Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro boast a sleek design, fast display, powerful chipset, and large batteries with fast charging support. Basically, Xiaomi is taking a big swing at Samsung here which means only good things for those looking for a well-thought-out Android tablet that is not a “Galaxy.” Next to the iPad 5 and Pad 5 Pro, Xiaomi has also introduced the Mix 4, its first phone with a blurry camera.

Naturally, both the iPad 5 and Pad 5 Pro are China-only products at the moment. There is no word on when Xiaomi will bring it to global markets including India at this time.

Xiaomi Pad 5, Pad 5 Pro prices

The iPad 5 starts at CNY1,999 (approximately Rs 23,000) version with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The 256GB of storage capacity will take you back by CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs 26,500).

The iPad 5 Pro comes with Wi-Fi or 5G (and Wi-Fi). Wi-Fi only Pad 5 Pro starts at CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs 28,700) while the last 256GB version will cost CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs 32,000). The 5G Pad 5 Pro will come with a single 8GB / 256GB configuration for CNY 3,499 (approximately Rs 40,200).

Xiaomi Pad 5, Pad 5 Pro indicators and features

Both iPad 5 and Pad 5 Pro come with an 11-inch “2.5K” LCD display with a 120Hz instantaneous refresh rate. The panel supports 10bit color depth with the TrueTone feature to automatically adjust the base color temperature for illumination. Both tablets can play Dolby Vision and HDR10 content. They also packed a quad-speaker set with the support of Dolby Atmos audio.

The iPad 5 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 system-on-chip while the iPad 5 has a waterproof Snapdragon 860. The software is MIUI 12.5.

The 5G Pad 5 Pro comes with a dual-camera 50 + 5MP rear while its Wi-Fi model replaces the main 13MP powerless camera. The iPad 5 has a single 13MP rear camera. Both tablets come with an 8MP front camera.

The iPad 5 Pro has an 8,600mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging. The iPad 5 has a larger 8,720mAh battery but comes with 33W faster charging.

Both the iPad 5 and Pad 5 Pro are compatible with first-class accessories including a smart magnetic keyboard cover and a Xiaomi battery with a built-in battery and a 240 Hz touch sample rate.
