Reddit Introduces Short-Form Video Feed on iOS

Reddit is the latest social platform for integrating short-form video feeds into its iOS system.

In its latest update, the Reddit app puts a button to the right of the search bar that streams videos in the same way as TikTok and Instagram Reels. Subreddits tags are displayed at the top, and users have the power to vote, vote down, comment, share and gift a list of awards and animated prizes.

The user interface itself isn’t exactly new as Reddit has been experimenting with this format for a while, but the new button and algorithm allow users to easily find new subreddits and videos without browsing the forum. Reddit acquired TikTok’s rival, Dubsmash, back in December and has confirmed plans to incorporate its technology to do new things down the line.

In an interview with TechCrunch, a Reddit spokesman outlined their thinking process after a new update: “Reddit’s mission is to bring the community and belong to everyone in the world, and after that, the mission of the Reddit team is to bring the community through video. player interface to match what users (young and old) expect when it comes to the app’s video player – especially commenting, watching, engaging, and discovering new content and communities with video. ”

The online chat forum Reddit has announced a new video feed for its mobile system that will make it easier to view social network content in one place. According to 9To5Mac, if the interface looks standard, it’s because it’s inspired by TikTok. Video feeds can be found with the new button found next to the search bar.

When a user taps it, the app shows full-screen videos in a top-view list. In addition to the play controls, the interface also has voting and drop-down buttons, as well as comments, sharing, and rendering. Quoting The Verge, the report said the new video feed not only displays content from subsequent subreddits but also suggests videos from other channels. (IANS)
