The former Huawei-based Honor has unveiled a new high-end smartphone series Honor 50. It is intended to inspire vloggers especially with features such as a dual selfie camera.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor has introduced new high-end models. Devices in the Honor 50 series are now pre-ordered in China and will be available in international markets on an unspecified date later. The lightest Honor 50 costs an estimated 348 euros in China, while the larger and better-armed Horror 50 Pro costs 477 euros there. In addition, the cheapest Honor 50 SE comes in at 309 euros. No details yet. According to the official press release, the Honor 50 series is aimed primarily at vloggers, i.e. users who regularly record themselves to share video donations on the Internet. The manufacturer has come up with many ideas to make this much easier.
Honor 50 – Two front-facing voting cameras
The Honor 50 Pro has two front-facing cameras. One has a 12-megapixel resolution and enables videos in a 100-degree wide-angle format. One has 32 megapixels and focuses on detailed shots. AI-controlled features such as super night mode should provide additional display and performance options. It is also possible to use two selfie lenses and a quadruple rear camera at the same time to view certain configurations of network video images. Three microphones should ensure that sound is always properly controlled. The intuitive user interface makes creating videos much easier, according to Honor. Honor 50 smartphones should also deliver high performance in the photo space. The main camera has a resolution of 108 megapixels.
Focus on building high quality
But in addition to video and photo functions, the Honor 50 series should also be impressive, for example with its new design. According to the manufacturer, the eye-catching design, similar to the camera module disk, is inspired by classic ring designs from luxury jewelry products. When choosing colors, Honor also wants to strike out with unusual ideas. For example, the color “Frost Crystal” should be reminiscent of a diamond-shaped area. Additional color options are called “Amber Red”, “Emerald Green” and “Midnight Black”. The Honor 50 is fitted with a 6.57-inch “retina-level” display with 75 degrees curved. The Pro model is 6.72 inches. In the Honor 50 Pro, the manufacturer promises “breathable optics” due to its high brightness,
Snapdragon processor with 5G support
The 120 Hertz refresh rate ensures image reproduction on all Honor 50 smartphones. Thanks to the Eyecomfort Display.2.0 certification, mobile display should also be very easy on the eyes. The Snapdragon 778G chip from Qualcomm with 5G support runs under the hood of the Honor 50 series. It should not only be more powerful and suitable for sports, but also more efficient and energy efficient. To avoid overheating, the Honor 50 Pro is fitted with liquid cooling, among other things. 4,300 milliampere batteries provide enough juice. They can be charged electricity to Honor 50 for 66 watts and Honor 50 Pro even for 100 watts of power. As a result, the completely empty Pro model battery is already back to 90 percent charge after 20 minutes.
Initial test by COMPUTER-BILD editor Christian Just:
To date, Honor 50 has only been announced in China. But one detail makes you stay focused: Honor 50 comes with a 5G processor capable of working with Snapdragon from US manufacturer Qualcomm, which is exactly the chips that former Huawei’s mother banned as a 5G variant by US. So the chances are low that the Honor 50 will arrive in Germany – with US approval either by Google services.
The Honor 50 SE uses a 4,000 mAh rechargeable battery with 66 watts of cable. From factory, Android 11 with Microsoft UI 4.2 operating system. In China, the new Honor 50 SE starts at the equivalent of 312 euros. Sales will start there on July 2, 2021. In terms of colors, the Honor 50 SE is available at Magn Mirror, Ocean Blue and Black. The device measures 164.3 x 75.63 x 8 mm with a weight of 191 g. The interface includes 4G / 5G LTE (excluding band 20), GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C (2.0) on board.
In China, the Honor 50 SE comes with instructions, a convenient fast charger, a USB-C cable, a SIM needle, a protective cover, and screen protection. The latter is attached to the factory. Certainly, the Honor 50 SE, as well as the Honor 50 and the Honor 50 Pro, will also be introduced in detail in the German market. Honor is separated from Huawei, Google services should also be on board and new models.
